Cookie policy
The janssens.law website uses no audience-measurement, targeted-advertising or profiling cookies. Only a few strictly necessary or functional cookies may be placed to ensure the proper operation of the site and to remember your preferences. This policy explains which ones, and how to manage them.
01What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognise your device, remember certain settings and make your navigation easier. A cookie can only be read by the server that placed it.
Cookies are distinguished by their lifespan — a session cookie is deleted when the browser is closed, a persistent cookie remains for a predefined period — and by their origin — a first-party cookie is placed by the site visited, a third-party cookie by another domain.
02Our approach
JANSSENS Law Firm has opted for digital sobriety. The site uses no audience-measurement tool (such as Google Analytics), no targeted advertising and no profiling tracker. No browsing data is resold or exploited for commercial purposes.
The only cookies that may be placed are strictly necessary for the operation of the site or improve your browsing comfort. In addition, some pages embed content provided by third parties (see article 4), which may on that occasion place their own cookies.
03Cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies — essential to the operation and security of the site; they do not require your consent. Functional cookies — they improve your comfort, for example by remembering the chosen language.
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| pll_language | Remembers the chosen language (FR / NL / EN) | Functional | 1 year |
| Cookie preferences | Stores your choice to accept or refuse non-essential cookies | Necessary | 6 to 12 months |
| Technical session | Proper operation of the site and access to the secure area (administration) | Necessary | Session |
The exact list may vary depending on the site’s configuration and the modules installed. None of these cookies is used for advertising or statistical purposes.
04Embedded third-party content
Some pages embed content provided by third parties, which may on that occasion place their own cookies or receive technical data:
- Google Maps — the location map, on the Contact page, is provided by Google, which may place cookies when it is displayed.
- Google Fonts — the site’s fonts are loaded from Google’s servers; this service does not place a cookie, but receives the IP address needed to deliver the fonts.
These processing operations are governed by Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
05Cookie lifespan
Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are kept for the period indicated in the table above, unless you delete them earlier via your browser settings.
06Managing your cookies
You may at any time accept, refuse or delete cookies, with the exception of those strictly necessary for the operation of the site. Most browsers allow you to manage cookies in their settings:
We nevertheless advise against blocking all cookies: some features of the site might no longer work correctly.
